As the founder and executive director, Joanne is the driving force behind Flo’s Seniors, shaping the direction of our programs and initiatives to better serve the community.

Violet is passionate about enhancing the lives of seniors through innovative programs and support.

Treasurer

Jean-Marie oversees our financial strategy, ensuring responsible budgeting and financial transparency to support our programs and initiatives.

Our Journey Through Time and Progress

Flo's Seniors has been dedicated to empowering older adults since its inception. Our timeline showcases the milestones that have shaped our organization.

2018 — Founded

Flo’s Seniors is established to serve Afro-Caribbean seniors in Ottawa–Gatineau.

2018 — First Honouring

Our first celebration recognizing the contributions of local seniors.

2019 — First Program

Launch of our first community program for seniors.

2022 — Charity Status

On April 4, Flo’s Seniors becomes a registered charity.

2023 — Transportation

Door-to-door service begins for seniors to access appointments and events.

2023 — Housing Research

Exploration starts for culturally informed housing solutions.

2024–Present — Housing Start-Up

Development begins on our senior housing project.

Flo’s Seniors envisions a financially strong, social-purpose charity that empowers Afro-Caribbean seniors to live with independence, dignity, and fulfillment.
We strive to promote the well-being of older adults in the Ottawa region through safe, culturally informed housing and essential programs and services.
Our commitment is to meet the evolving needs of our community by securing long-term funding, building new partnerships, and expanding our capacity as a trusted service organization.
