History

How did Abbeyfield start in Canada?

In 1985, Canada proudly joined Abbeyfield International, upholding the vision of Major Richard Carr-Gomm. His pioneering spirit began in 1956 when he transformed a dilapidated London property into a welcoming home for those facing loneliness.

How many Abbeyfield Houses are there worldwide?

Abbeyfield International is dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors through its extensive network. With hundreds of Abbeyfield Houses across the globe, we provide safe and nurturing homes for older adults. Our member societies work tirelessly to promote the Abbeyfield concept, ensuring that thousands of seniors can enjoy independence and community.
